Hyrdoraking
Hydroraking is a service typically offered to homeowners to control nuisance aquatic vegetation along their shoreline. The hydrorake is a floating backhoe, propelled by paddle wheels, with a large York rake attached to the bow. The rake is designed to scratch the bottom of a selected area to remove rooted vegetation. With a draft of 18”and backhoe arm reach of 10’, the rake can operate in shallow waters gaining access to the shore. The rake collects material and deposits it on the shoreline for removal by the homeowner, or for larger operations, deposits materials on a barge for central collection. It is important to note that hydro-raking is not typically recommended for sites with invasive species that spread by fragmentation as the operation can increase the proliferation of these species.
Lycott Environmental operates two hydro-rakes allowing for larger projects to be completed in a condensed timeframe and/or the ability to provide service to multiple clients at the same time. We have experience clearing large areas requiring complex logistics and planning for debris removal as well as one-day operations for a shorefront property owners seeking relief in defined areas. We are happy to discuss the merits of hydroraking management objectives.
